Four Weeks in June

A mesmerizing inter-generational drama from Scandinavia, <strong>FOUR WEEKS IN JUNE</strong> charts an unlikely friendship between two emotionally wounded heroines. A recent victim of romantic betrayal, Sandra (the striking Tuva Novotny) is a troubled twenty-something whose life hits rock bottom when she finds herself working in a remote Swedish factory and holed up in a dilapidated apartment being renovated by Polish workers. Her only neighbor is Lilly (an award-winning performance by Danish veteran Ghita Nørby), an elderly Jewish woman who harbors long-hidden secrets in a collection of wartime love letters. After a rocky introduction, the two haunted women find emotional refuge and ultimately redemption in each other. Writer-director Henry Meyer, drawing on his own mother's World War II story of a dashed romance, deftly explores a subtle but innately Jewish story of lives and loves ruptured by history.
