Born a sickly child to a dirt-poor family in 1893 Poland before coming to America, Joseph Greenstein was an unlikely strongman. Standing just 5’4” at 140 pounds, he harnessed both his physical and mental prowess to earn his nickname. Featured in the Guinness Book of World Records and Ripley’s Believe It or Not, pint-size Greenstein could bite through iron nails with his teeth, twist horseshoes into pretzels and even restrain an airplane with his hair. Joe’s grandson, Steven Greenstein, directs this improbable tale of human potential, and a loving tribute to a role model for Jewish athletes at a time when there was none.
