The 2020 lineup is now live! On the occasion of its 20th anniversary, the Atlanta Jewish Film Festival is thrilled to announce its 2020 programming lineup. Start surfing this year’s film selections, enjoy trailers, and view the screening schedule, so that you will be ready when tickets go on sale Monday, January 27. The 2020 AJFF features 48 features and 16 short films, three World Premieres, five North American Premieres and two U.S. Premieres from 17 countries.
Returning to theaters February 10 through February 27, screenings will be presented at venues across metro Atlanta, including Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre, Sandy Springs Performing Arts Center, Regal Perimeter Pointe, UA Tara Cinemas, Landmark Theatres Midtown Art Cinema, the Plaza Theatre, and the Woodruff Arts Center.
The 2020 selections are highly diverse films – covering everything from intimate and introspective biographies, epic dramas, stories that intersect with other communities, and topics with ripped-from-the-headlines urgency. The annual festival also offers compelling guest speakers and visiting filmmakers, who provide unique perspectives on the film lineup.

Atlanta is a city of great diversity and building strong community connections through film is fundamental to our mission,” says Kenny Blank, AJFF’s Executive Director. “The tenets of great storytelling, community conversation and heightened audience experience continue to be a focus not only for our 20th year but beyond.”
The Opening Night World Premiere of Shared Legacies: The African-American Jewish Civil Rights Alliance, explores the historic relationship among civil rights pioneers, including many notable Atlanta leaders.
The lineup also examines little known aspects of extraordinary people: Israeli Prime Minister Meir in Golda; the renowned British neurologist in Oliver Sacks: His Own Life; a visionary filmmaker in Alan J. Pakula: Going for Truth; and a notorious power broker in Bully. Coward. Victim. The Story of Roy Cohn.
Dramas that demand big-screen viewing include The Glass Room, Black Mercedes, Those Who Remained, and Incitement, Israel’s Oscar entry. And for sports fans, Aulcie, Back to Maracanã, and The Keeper will have you cheering.
If you crave a little laughter, comedies include Standing Up, Falling Down, featuring Billy Crystal playing against type; Serial (Bad) Weddings 2, a sequel to the 2015 AJFF hit; and Wolkenbruch, the sexual awakening of a Swiss Orthodox student.
The family-friendly menu offers #AnneFrank. Parallel Stories, Abe, Crescendo, Flawless, and When Hitler Stole Pink Rabbit, among others.
Closing Night’s Saul & Ruby, To Life! salutes a pair of Holocaust survivors-turned- musicians who embrace a message of peace amidst rising anti-Semitism.
