Synopsis for ajffrecommends.org
The absurdity of life is celebrated in this amusing tale of a sprightly Holocaust survivor and his eccentric Parisian family. Eighty-year-old Salomon Bellinsky (splendid Jean-Pierre Marielle) is a lusty old coot who refuses to surrender to mortality. Spurning a tragic past, he throws himself into tap-dancing and movie musicals, while a new romance with a young college professor (Sabine Azéma) sweetens his golden years considerably. Long separated from his wife Geneviéve (Bulle Ogier), Salomon still visits her often even as she slips into dementia, attended by loyal caretaker Mr. Mootoosamy (Bakary Sangare). Caught in the middle is daughter Sarah (Valeria Bruni-Tedeschi) who tries to make sense of her parents' and her own marriage. Brimming with compassion, LET'S DANCE is a frank, funny examination of aging and family.
