Synopsis for ajffrecommends.org
The next generation squares off against old guard military hardliners to prevent a Middle East nuclear crisis in <strong>ATOMIC FALAFEL</strong>, a farce that skewers the current Israel-Iran showdown.

With Iran threatening to attain nuclear power, anxious Israeli politicians and top brass gather in an underground bunker to debate a response. When the bellicose brigadier general (Yossi Marshak) and chief intelligence officer (Zohar Strauss) present their audacious plan, the defense minister (Jonathan Cherchi) and eye-patched commander (Shai Avivi) approve a preemptive strike. Above ground in a dusty Negev town, a mother-daughter team runs a falafel truck catering to troops patrolling a nearby nuclear reactor. As the widowed mother (Mali Levi) falls for a uranium-allergic German nuclear inspector (Alexander Fehling), her daughter (Michelle Treves) and computer whiz boyfriend (Idan Carmeli) stumble upon secret files that could prevent a nuclear conflagration. As the zany plotlines coverage, the Israeli teens and an Iranian youth (Tara Melter) scramble to thwart war between their countries.

Written and directed with absurdist abandon by Dror Shaul (<em>Sweet Mud</em>), <strong>ATOMIC FALAFEL</strong> is an Israeli-styled <em>Dr. Strangelove</em>, nominated for four Israeli Academy Awards.
